Dane's Prequel

"Dane left for New York and after that everything was different. I have no idea what he was doing, or who he was with, or what his life was like there. And the worst part is he came back as this person I didn't know and I had to pretend I knew him when I looked him in the eyes."

Dane was accepted to Gnosis University and everything was going to be perfect. He was going to study, learn the city, become a true New Yorker, and maybe even get a job. He'd been planning this his whole life. He knew what he wanted.

Right?

And then Fallon stepped into his life and suddenly New York wasn't his main goal anymore, but instead, all he wanted was her friendship, her companionship, her love. So when Dane is presented with the opportunity to finally spend a term in New York ... he leaves with Fallon in his heart and her face as his screensaver.

This prequel to Novelty will not only explain what life was like for Dane while he was studying abroad, but it will also provide insight into Dane's thoughts that culminated in his actions upon returning to London, Bembrooke, and Fallon. Even wonder what happened to Dane while he was studying abroad? Want more insight into his New York friends - Kaira, Auggie, Larkin, and most of all, Penelope?

There's more to the story than just a messy breakup, a city that never sleeps, and a tired English boy. And for those of you who loved the New York cast of characters and would love to see more of them and the halls of Temple Publishing, then this prequel is for you. Though there won't be as much of Fallon (obviously, I mean, she's going to be in London the entire time), we'll still see the internal dialogue going through Dane's head as he pines for his best friend while also trying to get over her.

More details on the Nero/Penelope/Dane fiasco, and Dane's time at a different university under the guidance of different professors - this prequel will provide some more drama about our favorite lovable, gloomy, and sarcastic boy Dane O'Leary as he finds himself, loses himself, and inevitably sets himself on a path that one day will lead him to Wales.

There is no set publication date for Dane's Prequel - I don't even have a title yet - but the storyboarding process is in the works and updates will be rather consistent in the blog and on Instagram. Stay tuned!

Prequel Cover Art Fund

Just as I did for Novelty, I will obviously be working with a very talented artist to bring the vision of Dane O'Leary to life on the cover of his prequel. As someone who works in the art world, I spend hours on Instagram's art tag searching through up-and-coming artists just admiring and enjoying their work. I've now made it my mission to always support these artists should I ever need art or graphics done for any of my work.

I'd like to start a small fund where I can provide a bonus to the artists I work with since many artists have been impacted by the COVID pandemic. Donations are through ko-fi and I'll set them aside in a small savings account so these artists will receive extra thanks for their hard work.
